Treatments

Acupressure

Acupressure is an alternative medicine technique similar to acupuncture. According to traditional chinese medicine, acupressure is a very effective way to stimulate the meridian system to achieve relief for an individual.

Holding acupoints can be beneficial for:

  • bringing muscles back into homeostasis

  • redistribute energy throughout the acupuncture system

  • stimulate organs, glands, skin, bone and sinews

  • stimulate aspects of the brain

  • help to dissolve unresolved trauma

Energetic Medicine
Energetic medicine is a non-invasive therapy that treats the client using many techniques such as:

  • Colour therapy
  • Aura-Soma
  • Hologram
  • Crystals
  • Essence
  • Chakra balance

Nutrition
Procedures for nutritional wellbeing combine western science with traditional chinese medicine, giving the client a deeper understanding of their condition or issues. These procedures can also assist in discovering which nutrients may be lacking and needed for optimal body and brain functioning.

Lack of vitamins, minerals, herbs or heavy metals detected within the mind-body can be advised, and complementary nutrients and/or food sources may be recommended to encourage the healing process.

Structure
When any stressor causes a change in the position of the body, muscles begins to compensate changing muscle patterns. Over time, if the original stressor is not resolved or removed, these muscular compensation patterns can become fixed in the body as dysfunctional postural alignments, causing pain, stiffness and loss of movement.

Clients suffering physical pain benefit greatly from structural procedures and usually notice a change by the end of the session.

Brain Function Assessment

Why do a brain function assessment?

A brain function assessment is beneficial for individuals who are having issues with:

  • Coordination

  • Balance

  • Poor memory

  • Spatial awareness

  • Speech

  • Comprehension

What is involved in an assessment?

Depending on the issues that the individual is dealing with will depend on the type of assessment carried out. For example, for those with poor coordination, Amanda will ask the client to march on the spot to evaluate their body movement, particularly looking at how freely the arms swing, legs move and the rhythm of these movements together. To assess hand-eye coordination, a ball catching exercise will suggest any difference between the left and right side, indicating where the stress transpires.

How can an assessment help me?

Performing a series of specific movements allows Amanda to evaluate your brain integration.  Effectively, this shows how the left and right brain ‘talk’ to each other to produce body movement, as most complex movements involve both sides of the brain.

For comprehension, speech and memory issues, a series of verbal and written tasks are carried out to assess where the problems are, how they are affecting the individual, and what procedures are best to execute for optimal results.

How many assessments will I need?

Amanda recognises that each individual is different, and has varied difficulty with their issues. Therefore, the amount of sessions needed does vary from client to client. Some clients may notice changes between 4-6 sessions, others may notice results between 10-12 sessions. Assessments are performed at the beginning of every ongoing session to measure results that are achieved. This is an effective way to evaluate each client’s progress.

Reflex Assessments
Who will benefit from a reflex assessment?

As a baby we are born with primitive reflexes, however throughout our life these reflexes are meant to integrate, allowing us to progress onto the next stage of development. Sometimes, for no known reason this does not happen causing many issues including difficulties with:

  • Speech

  • Coordination

  • Balance

  • Concentration

  • Lowered immune system

  • Anxiety

  • Low self-esteem

How will an assessment benefit me?

If you are like some of my clients who suffer from the above symptoms, it is possible that you have experienced a trauma that has triggered one or more reflexes. This can affect your ability to understand conversations in a noisy room, adjust to sudden changes and make decisions. These are only some of the symptoms caused by the triggered reflexes as there are too many to list. Assessing your reflexes will enable me to find the source of the problem, and clear it so you are able to function at your optimum level again. This will give you the liberty to enjoy life, instead of reacting to your surroundings in a highly strung way.

What is a reflex?

Primitive reflex

Primitive reflexes are categorised, complex, automated movements that develop during foetal life which peak during, and months after birth. The first 3-4 months of life tend to be dominated by these involuntary motor movements and all serve a different purpose. Although, it is extremely important for survival.

These involuntary movements need to integrate into voluntary motor behaviours as the brain matures. When one or more reflexes don’t integrate, it can become a problem as it affects the child’s development and muscle control.

Postural reflex

Postural reflexes are automatic movements that control the balance needed once we develop to an age where we are upright and moving. They replace primitive reflexes as they inhibit, providing posture, balance and fluid movement for the individual.

What will you do in an assessment?

Each reflex is responsible for its own movement. Since there are so many different reflexes, it is important to assess the correct reflex. First, you will be asked specific questions in relation to your issue. These questions will be determined by Amanda based on her knowledge and how each reflex affects how you react to certain incidences in life. Second, you will complete physical tasks or exercises to examine how minor or severe your case is. With this accurate testing Amanda can then move on to clearing this issue so you can return to a balanced, enjoyable life where you can feel at ease with yourself.
